Once I start the course, do I have to finish it right then?

TABC On The Fly will periodically update course content to maintain compliance with TABC rules and legislative changes. When course content, quiz questions, or Final Exam questions are changed, your course progress may be intentionally reset to ensure that you receive the most up-to-date material.

Can I pause your TABC certification online course and continue it later?

Absolutely! Our TABC certification online course allows you stop at any time and continue the course later exactly where you left off. Just make sure you log off between sessions.

Is there a test?

Indeed there is. At the end of each chapter you will take a quiz consisting of five (5) questions. Per TABC rules, you must answer at least 4 out of 5 questions correctly to continue to the next chapter. After the 4th chapter, you will take a standardized Final Exam consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions. Per TABC rules, you are allowed two (2) attempts to pass the Final Exam with a minimum score of 70 to be issued a TABC certificate. If you fail Final Exam A, our website will immediately direct you to Final Exam B. If you also fail Final Exam B, our website will immediately direct you to start the course over from the beginning.

Will I get an official TABC certificate or card in the mail?

The PDF certificate you get after passing our online course is your official TABC certificate. When you get your TABC certificate on our website, your job is done. It is then our responsibility to report your information to the TABC. We do this by uploading your information to the TABC’s online database on their website.

I lost my certificate.

No worries. You can get another copy of your TABC certificate at any time by logging in to your account. After logging in, look at the “Your Certificates” section of your main page. You can get an electronic PDF copy of your certificate at any time for no charge.  You can also purchase a hardcopy by mail for only $5.

Does TABC On The Fly offer anything else for employers, managers and owners?

Funny you ask! TABC On The Fly offers a free online roster system that allows employers to easily monitor when their employees’ TABC certifications expire.

When you add employees to your roster, both you and the employee will receive an email notification the month before their TABC certification expires. The goal is to ensure all employees stay TABC certified and never have a lapse between certifications. Sign up for a free employer account and start creating your roster today.

When you create a free employer account, you can also buy pre-paid codes in any quantity you want, whenever you want. When one of your employees needs to get TABC certified, just give them a code and direct them to our website to sign up for the course. They’ll enter the code on our payment page and be given immediate access to the course. It’s that easy. 

If you purchase pre-paid codes via an employer account, the codes will remain active and available for redemption as long as your employer account remains active. To keep your employer account active, you must take at least one of the following actions every 12 months:

  • Log in to your employer account.
  • Add or delete employees from your roster.
  • Purchase or redeem at least one pre-paid code.

I’m an employer, manager, or owner and need to pay for my employees to get TABC certified online. Is that possible?

Is there a test?

Indeed there is. At the end of each chapter you will take a quiz consisting of five (5) questions. Per TABC rules, you must answer at least 4 out of 5 questions correctly to continue to the next chapter. After the 4th chapter, you will take a standardized Final Exam consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions. Per TABC rules, you are allowed two (2) attempts to pass the Final Exam with a minimum score of 70 to be issued a TABC certificate. If you fail Final Exam A, our website will immediately direct you to Final Exam B. If you also fail Final Exam B, our website will immediately direct you to start the course over from the beginning.

How is the Final Exam structured?

Final Exams A and B are standardized and comprised of 25 multiple-choice questions that cover material from all four chapters of the TABC certification course. Per TABC rules, you must score a minimum of 70 to be issued a TABC certificate, which means you must answer at least 18 out of 25 questions correctly.

Per TABC rules, have two attempts to pass the Final Exam. If you fail both times, you must start the course over again from the beginning.

How many attempts am I allowed to pass the Final Exam?

Per TABC rules, you are allowed two attempts to pass the Final Exam. If you fail Final Exam A, you will immediately be given an opportunity to take Final Exam B. If you also fail Final Exam B, our website will direct you back to the beginning of the course. We do not require payment to start the course over.

I failed the Final Exam.

Per TABC rules, you have two (2) attempts to pass the Final Exam. If you fail both times, our website will direct you back to the beginning of the course.

How much does your online TABC certification course cost?

What forms of payment do you accept?

Can I use another person’s credit card to pay for the online TABC certification course?

Sure, assuming you have their permission. Just make sure the billing information is entered correctly, otherwise the transaction will decline. Please give the cardholder a copy of the receipt and tell them the charge will appear on their statement as TABC ON THE FLY LLC.

The website said my card declined, but my account was still charged.

Anytime your credit/debit card declines, your bank account will still show a pending charge because your card issuer places a temporary hold on those funds. This is completely out of our control. Your card issuer will typically release the funds within a few business days.

I was charged twice. How do I get a refund?

Why do you need my Social Security Number and Date of Birth?

Because the TABC requires it. Your Social Security Number and Date of Birth are used for reporting your certification to the TABC and will never be shared with anyone else.

If you don’t have a Social Security Number, you can still take our online TABC certification course. The TABC also accepts the following Personal Identification Numbers:

  • Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • Alien Registration Number (“A” Number)
  • IV case number from a machine-readable immigrant visa (MRIV)

Will my computer work with this course?

You can also manage your roster of employees. Our system will notify you and the employee via email one month before the employee’s certificate expires. You will also have immediate access to employee certificates via your roster if the employee selected you as their employer during registration.

I passed the online TABC certification course but my certificate information doesn’t appear in the TABC’s online database.

Per TABC rules, schools like TABC On The Fly are allowed up to 14 days to upload TABC certifications to the online database. This allows us enough time to contact students and confirm personal information when necessary.

That said, we upload most of our TABC certifications the following day. If your certificate information does not appear on the TABC’s website within 14 days, there is likely a typo with your SSN and/or Date of Birth. This is very common and easy for us to fix, but please contact us.

To get started, please look for an email from Certified On The Fly with the subject line “Food Handler Instructions”, that contains a code and instructions. If the email is not in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder and all other folders it may have gone to by mistake.

Once you have the code:

  • Enroll in the Food Handler course only. If you’ve used Certified On The Fly before, please log in to your account first and then re-enroll;

Why does your TABC certification online course ask personal validation questions?

Because the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) requires it. TABC rules require that our website ask a series of personal validation questions throughout our TABC certification online course. The intent of these questions is to ensure the person taking the course is the same person who enrolled. In other words, the purpose is to prohibit other people from taking the class for you. Per TABC rules, if you answer less than 70% of these questions correctly then you must be dropped from the course. In this scenario, our website will erase your course progress and require you to start the course over from the beginning.

To avoid this, just make sure you select the same answers you selected during enrollment and submit each answer within 60 seconds.
